Bengals DBs on Terrelle Pryor: Trash

A pass intended for Cleveland Browns wide receiver Terrelle Pryor (11) sails high in the fourth quarter during the Week 14 NFL game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Cleveland Browns, Sunday, Dec. 11, 2016, at FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland. Cincinnati won 23-10.

CLEVELAND – The refrain rang out along the row of lockers in the Cincinnati Bengals’ locker room under FirstEnergy Stadium.

One catch. Three yards.

One catch. Three yards.

“What’s the guy's name again?” Dre Kirkpatrick asked a Cleveland reporter.

“Terrelle Pryor.”

Instant analysis: Why Bengals beat Browns

“How do you say it? Terrelle. Trash man? Oh. Oh. Yeah. It was good.” We had fun with him today. I feel like we did our job, went out there and executed the plays. So hey, job well done by the Bengals.”

Kirkpatrick smiled, and took a deep breath.

“One catch. Three yards.”

Kirkpatrick went on to acknowledge Pryor, Sr. was briefly a teammate and said a lot of the trash talk - no pun intended - was “fun and games,” but fellow corner Adam Jones wasn’t as interested in providing even a cursory platitude to the former Ohio State quarterback.

Jones emerged from the shower and offered up a nearly two minute soliloquy on Pryor, Sr.

“It’s just the principle of you’ve been playing for so long and you’ve put in your work and you’ve young guys talking (expletive) who haven’t done (expletive),” Jones began.

Bengals cruise past Browns, 23-10

“We took it personal. I know me and Dre did, personally, for a guy to personally go to my coordinator (Paul Guenther) and tell me he’s going to get me cut after the game.

“I have the utmost respect for (Browns head coach) Hue (Jackson), but certain (expletive) I don’t tolerate from young punks, really, basically. A (expletive) suburb kid that wants to act like he’s the toughest thing in the world, because he done caught a couple of balls.

“He’s just arrogant. You could see it with his teammates. Did you all not see him, when he was pushing and cussing at RGIII on the field? So I pay attention to everything. I told RGIII how the (expletive) you going to throw him the ball when he’s talking to you like that. You’re the (expletive) quarterback.

“It’s just little things.

Doc: Bengals glad they're not Browns as they play out string

“Ya’ll know who I am. I don’t really don’t get into personal battles because I’ve got respect for a lot of people, but certain situations it just demands me to speak.

“Truthfully I could give two (expletive) about Terrelle Pryor and his career and whatever he done.”

As for the pushing between Pryor, Sr. and Griffin III Jones referenced, Jackson said he noticed it and it was due to a miscommunication.

“I think one was trying to call the formation and the other one is trying to get people lined up,” Jackson said. “Those things happen from time to time. That is noticing. I don’t think anybody should read into that.”

Pryor, Sr. was targeted just three times by Griffin III, one of which was on a flea flicker in which three defensive backs surrounded him, and the ball was intercepted by George Iloka.

Jones, who had three tackles, then concluded on his go-round with the media by turning around, grabbing a trash bin and shouting into it.

“Hey! You in there? Hey! You in there?”

Bengals' run game carries the day

When more media members came through to talk to him, Jones refused to answer any question about anything other than the Browns wide receiver but continued to let his distaste for Pryor, Sr. be known.

“He told my coordinator that he's going to cut me after the game,” Jones added. “For a guy that's been a slouch around the league at quarterback, played decent this year for his first year at wide receiver. I'm saying all this facade, all the fake hard (expletive) that he plays out on the field. That ain't Terrelle. I checked his background. He's a suburbs kid from Pittsburgh. Terrelle Pryor was right there the whole game, right there in the garbage can. Next question.”
