Stanford's starting cornerbacks won't play vs. Washington

USA TODAY Sports

No. 6 Stanford will face a tricky test on the road Friday night against No. 9 Washington, and the Cardinal will be without a couple of key defenders.

Stanford cornerback Quenton Meeks (right), with safety Zach Hoffpauir, is injured and won't play against Washington.

Cornerbacks Quenton Meeks and Alijah Holder will not play, coach David Shaw said, following injuries Saturday against UCLA.

In their place will be Alameen Murphy and Terrence Alexander, each making their first career starts.

Washington is led by QB Jake Browning, who has thrown for 904 yards and 14 touchdowns, second nationally.

Also out for Stanford will be receiver Francis Owusu, who suffered a concussion vs. UCLA.
