The New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers may be struggling on the court, but the two franchises are No. 1 and No. 2 when it comes to value, according to a list released by Forbes on Wednesday.

Despite the fact that both teams haven't been to the playoffs since the 2012-13 season, the Knicks — now worth $3.3 billion — are the NBA's most valuable team for the second straight year, up 10% from last year, while the Lakers are worth $3 billion, which is an 11% increase.

The Golden State Warriors, No. 3 on the list, jumped an NBA-best 37% from last year up to $2.6 billion. The Chicago Bulls ($2.5 billion) and Boston Celtics ($2.2 billion) round out the top five.

According to Forbes, the average NBA franchise is worth $1.36 billion — a 3.5-fold increase over the last five years — due in large part to the NBA's massive TV deal and continued global outreach.
