Anthony Young died at 51 from a brain tumor.

Former major league pitcher Anthony Young has died, the New York Mets announced in a statement. He was 51.

The (Bergen County) Record reported in January that Young had an inoperable brain tumor

Former major league player Lenny Harris tweeted early Tuesday that Young had gone into a coma Monday night.

Young had an ERA of 3.89 in six seasons in the majors. His claim to fame was his 27 straight losses with the New York Mets from May 6, 1992-July 24, 1993. He was with the Mets from 1991-93, the Chicago Cubs from 1993-94 and the Houston Astros in 1995.

"Anthony was a true gentleman," former Mets pitcher Turk Wendell said in a statement. "At this year's fantasy camp, he told us he had a brain tumor. That was Anthony. He never ran away from anything."
