Cleveland Indians manager Terry Francona was hospitalized overnight and will not lead the team Tuesday, the club announced in a news release.

Doctors at the Cleveland Clinic “have ruled out any major health issues” after Francona underwent several tests at the hospital, the Indians said in a statement. Bench coach Brad Mills will manage Tuesday’s game against the Texas Rangers.

“He will continue to be monitored over the next several weeks to determine the nature of his recent symptoms,” the team said.

Francona is expected to return to the team on Wednesday.

Francona left early in the Monday’s game and was evaluated for the team’s medical staff. He experienced similar symptoms when he left a game June 14 and was taken to a hospital.

Francona underwent a series of tests and was released from the hospital a few hours later when he left that game two weeks ago. Francona returned to work the following night.

The 57-year-old Francona missed a game last season in August after experiencing chest pains.
