Grafton's Julia Wille came in fourth to help theĀ girls cross country-team to a strong third place in the West Allis Central Bulldog Invitational on Sept. 2.

Wille, a sophomore, ran in 20 minutes, 28 seconds at the McCarty Park course. She led a group of six Grafton runners, all of whom are freshmen or sophomores.

Freshman Anna Eifert placed 14th (21:34), freshman Natalie Cherella 16th (21:38), freshman Ava Pederson 17th (21:41), freshman Chloe Chontos 28th (22:43) and sophomore Zoe Leannah 30th (23:10).

The Black Hawks tallied 79 points for third place in the team standings, trailing Oak Creek with 60 points and Germantown with 61 points.

The Grafton boys finished sixth with 124 points behind Gordy Thompson, who was ninth (17:00). Ben Weishan took 18th (17:34), Zander Lichosik 26th (17:47), Jake Kempka 35th (18:37), Sam Peters 36th (18:40) and Thomas Volkmann 38th (18:45).

The Hawks next compete at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at Menomonee Falls High School.
