Hillary Clinton's mid-debate shimmy sure was something

Amid Monday's post-debate din and hoopla, one GIF emerged poised to become a part of our political memescape: Hillary Clinton exhaling, smiling and moving her shoulders in a way reminiscent of a shimmy.

The moment came after a lengthy rejoinder from Donald Trump that left Clinton with much to address.

"I have much better judgement than she has. There's no question about that," Trump said. "I also have a much better temperament than she does."

A minute later, Clinton had the floor.

"Whoo!'" she said. "OK."

The audience let loose with some laughter before Clinton began a point about NATO (more on that in our live blog).

The moment really comes through here with audio, courtesy of CNN:

Let's break it down: First, Clinton inhales deeply and exhales. Then she smiles and scans the audience before closing her eyes and shaking her shoulders as many as 10 times.

As many have suggested, Clinton seemed to draw obvious inspiration from Shaquille O'Neal and this cat:

Or perhaps Clinton found her muse in another former NBA star, Antoine Walker.

We guess it could have been Steph Curry.

Regardless, a nonscientific survey of Twitter seemed to indicate it was, for better or worse, a moment.
