SAN ANTONIO — The family of a 22-year-old woman is grieving after she was killed in a car accident Tuesday night.

But she did not die alone. A good Samaritan who stopped to help was with the crash victim in her final moments.

Two SUVs had just collided on Loop 1604 near Universal City and Justin Bateman stopped to see if he could help.

"They where both SUVs but you couldn't tell what her car was the other one so I kinda sat there for a moment and then nobody was really doing anything so that's when I walked over there but I didn't expect to see what I saw," said Bateman.

"She wasn't responding but then I heard her sniffle and that's what it sounded like so I waited and I heard it two more times and I told them she has got some kinda air somewhere EMS needs to roll right now, " he said.

While waiting for help Bateman knelt to comfort the victim.

"I was just like, 'Look they are on they way, just relax if you can hear, me I'm not going to leave,'" he recalled.

He was by her side as she took her last breath and the news began to spread. Facebook was flooded with photos and comments about the wreck.

After the accident, Bateman's thoughts turned to those closest to him.

"You know, after the scene is over and now I'm driving home the first thing I'm just thinking about my family," said Bateman.
