INDIANAPOLIS — Former Subway pitchman, Jared Fogle, has been transferred to a federal prison in Colorado, prison records show. His attorneys had asked that he be housed there to receive psychological treatment.

Fogle is serving more than 15 years for possession of child pornography and traveling to have sex with minors, though he is appealing his sentence.

His plea deal prohibits him from appealing his conviction, but he can appeal any sentence longer than 12 years, seven months. Federal Judge Tanya Walton Pratt gave Fogle a prison term of 15 years, eight months.

Fogle, 38, was transferred to the low-security institution in suburban Denver after spending a short period in a facility in Oklahoma City.

Fogle joins another notorious inmate, former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich — who is serving a 14-year prison sentence — at the Littleton, Colo., facility which houses 966 federal prisoners.

Blagojevich began his prison term in 2012 after he was convicted on 18 counts, including attempted extortion and conspiracy to solicit bribes, in a scheme centered on using power to extract favors and campaign cash.

Pratt agreed to Fogle's placement in Colorado at his sentencing hearing in November, but the final decision was made by the Bureau of Prisons.

Records show a release date of July 11, 2029. Federal prisoners must complete at least 85% of their sentence.

Jared Fogle sentenced to nearly 16 years on child porn charges

Fogle's secret life became national fodder after a July raid on his Zionsville, Ind., home. The man rose to be a household name after he dropped weight by eating only Subway sandwiches while he was a student at Indiana University in Bloomington.

The shocking child pornography investigation shattered Fogle's wholesome and lucrative image and exposed the criminal activities of the man Fogle hired to run his charitable organization focused on fighting childhood obesity.

Russell Taylor, 44, admitted to secretly producing pornographic videos of 12 children, all of whom he knew, and sharing some of those videos with Fogle, his good friend and former boss. Taylor, was sentenced earlier this month to 27 years in prison on child porn charges.
