Village of Thiensville — Fiddleheads Coffee Roasters has added a four-seasons garden room to take advantage of the riverside location of its original Thiensville location.

The room, a separate structure a few steps from the main building, has windowed garage doors on all four sides that can open to let in the air when it's warmer and close when it gets cold. There's a firepit in the center, and it can be used year round.

The company hosted a grand opening for the new building last weekend with live music, discounts and special events, according to Jovana Cubric, the company's vice president of operations.

“We wanted to take all the elements of this location that our customers really love about it, which is this beautiful nature that we have around it, a unique location on the river,” Cubric said.

The Thiensville location was opened in 1996 by Lynn Wroblewski, who worked at a coffee shop when she was in college in Colorado. When she moved back to Wisconsin, she decided she wanted to make it a full-time gig.

“She started basically just with a passion for coffee, Cubric said. "She thought, 'Wow, I'd like to spend my life working in the coffee industry.'”

The company now has five locations across Thiensville, Cedarburg, Mequon and Bayshore, Cubric said.

The new four-seasons "Garden Room" was built in part to commemorate the company's 20-year anniversary, Cubric said.

“We kind of wanted to celebrate it with an expansion just next door here with opening a garden room where customers can come in the middle of the wintertime or summertime and just enjoy the nature around here, enjoy the river and feel nice and cozy,” she said.

Cubric said the coffee company, which also runs a wholesale bakery operation and distributes coffee nationwide, plans to expand in the future but wants to keep its hometown roots.

"There's no secret sauce in how many locations there will be. We want to grow into a community and that's what we've done with other locations that we have, so we want to continue that process," she said, adding that the company would be happy with 10 coffee shop locations.
