An unknown vandal spray-painted a swastika and other obscenities on a memorial pavilion in Coal Dock Park, according to the Port Washington Police Department.
Police were contacted on the evening of Sunday, Jan. 22, by an individual who came across the graffiti while walking a dog in the park. According to police reports, the individual at the scene took photos of the graffiti and posted them to social media. City officials removed the graffiti by the following day.
The memorial pavilion was dedicated in memory of two young men, including a 15 year-old boy, who drowned in separate incidents in Lake Michigan in 2012.
The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information regarding this incident or those responsible is encouraged to contact the Port Washington Police Department at 262-284-2611.
