The annual Taste of Mequon is set for noon to 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, in front of the city hall, 11333 N. Cedarburg Road.
The event, hosted by the Mequon festivals committee, is free and features various music, food, drinks art, and children's activities.
Those looking to attend can park at Homestead High School, 5000 W Mequon Road, and ride a free shuttle from Go Riteway. Rides start at 11:30 a.m.
Music artists include Chicken Wire Empire from noon to 2:30 p.m. followed by the Danny Miller Band at 3 until 5:30 p.m. Closing out the night will be Left on Sunset from 6 to 9 p.m.
For the artistically inclined, there are a number of offerings at the event from noon to 6 p.m. Those interested in jewelry can visit Deborah Dunn, Jane Kraemer, and Kathleen Van Wagenen. Other artists include David Fliss with caricatures, Bob Holmes with wooden objects, Sue Madden with beaded serve ware, Lana Voskoboynik with hand-knitted accessories, and Mary Spencer with glass mosaic work.
Kids have the ability to create their own art with Make 'n Take Art by Stoney River Art. Kids more interested in body art will have face painting offered by Glaze as well as hair coloring and styling by Supercuts to choose from.
Art isn't the only form of activity for kids at Taste of Mequon, however. Animals native to the Mequon Nature Preserve will be available to meet. More physical activities like a bounce house by Splash Swim and Wellness, Chay's Tae Kwon Do, Just for Kix, and an obstacle course will also be offered.
Many local food and drink vendors will be available at the event, such as Cafe Hollander participating in its first Taste of Mequon since opening earlier this year. Other vendors include Cafe 1505, Falafel Guys, Jimmy the Popcorn Man, Joe Gerard's, Leonardo's Pizza, Mequon Chancery, Midon, Stilt House, The Burg/Burger Parlor, The Cheel, The Ruby Tap, and the Thiensville-Mequon Lions Club will also have a few offerings.
A list of local participants in the event include: The Feed Bag Pet Supply, the Frank L. Weyenberg Library, Gathering on the Green, Jonathan Clark House Museum, Mequon-Thiensville Chamber of Commerce, Orangetheory Fitness, Elements Massage, and the Frenz Garden Center.
