Mequon —The annual Gathering on the Green event in Mequon's Rotary Park, 4100 W. Highland Road, is being held July 15 and 16 with Huey Lewis and The News headlining the first night followed by a family fun day.

Huey Lewis and The News will perform at 7:30 p.m. July 15 with special guest Zach Pietrini. Formed from two rival Bay Area bands and with hits such as 'The Power of Love' and 'Heart of Rock and Roll,' Huey Lewis and The News are entering their 37th year together, according to the Gathering on the Green website.

Children younger than 12 are free on the lawn with a paid adult admission.

July 16 is Family Fun Day with many activities offered to participants. Admission is free from 2 to 5 p.m. with a nonperishable food item. Items will be donated to Family Sharing of Ozaukee County. After 5 p.m., tickets are $40 reserved and $20 general admission/lawn.

Preferred parking is $20 with general parking $10. No early-bird lawn setup is allowed as has been in previous years.

Parking lots open at 1:30 p.m. with the park opening at 2 p.m. The children's village will be operating until 5 p.m. and features arts and crafts, animals, a petting zoo, face painting, games, Disney characters, sea hamsters, a bounce house, hair and makeup work, caricatures, and many other activities.

The Kids from Wisconsin, a musical production for youth, perform at 5:30 p.m. followed by The Starliner Big Band featuring Jenny Thiel at 7:45 p.m.

On the community stage, Timbriel and Timmaya Paris will be on at 2:30 p.m., Whyte Noise at 3 p.m., Homestead High School's drama club at 3:30 p.m., the Trinity Irish Dancers at 4 p.m., and The Tritones at 4:30 p.m.

Various offerings of food will be featured through food trucks. Falafel Guys, Truck Meister, Wicked Urban Grill, Sushi Go and Laura's Gourmet Popcorn will be offered. Beer, wine, soda and water will be offered, as well.

The police and fire departments will be in attendance as well.

The event closes out with fireworks at 9:30 p.m.
