MEQUON - One of the candidates for the Mequon-Thiensville School District's school board has informed the district he is rescinding his candidacy due to "personal reasons," according to a news release from the district.
Aaron Hurvitz said in an email to the district that he will not serve even if he was elected via a write-in vote or is left on the ballot. The release said he also apologized for any inconvenience the issue causes.
Hurvitz was challenging incumbent Wendy Francour and Krista Brookman in a race for two seats.
According to the release, if a candidate files for a school board seat, they will be included on the ballot under state law, even if they decide they don't want to serve. Because of this, Hurvitz's name will be listed on the ballot April 4.
