MEQUON - A new shooting range will open in Mequon over Memorial Day weekend, May 26-29.
Bear Arms, Wisconsin's first indoor boutique shooting range, will be located in the former Bulk Petroleum Corp. building, 9653 N. Granville Road, and offers a unique boutique with shooting accessories, clothing, and skin care products for men and women, according to a news release.
Eight lanes will be available for shooting and two will accommodate long guns. Rental weapons are available for those who do not have guns. Additionally, a viewing area with large flat screen televisions will be adjacent to the shooting lanes, boutique and cafe.
The range is open to the public but will also offer memberships and provide discounts for law enforcement agencies, military personnel and veterans. According to the release, there are a limited number of discounted memberships for the first 100 charter members with four membership levels.
“We will offer our members a unique blend of hands-on gun training for all skill levels, combined with social and recreational activities that promote camaraderie and a fun atmosphere for learning and shooting," said Bear Arms owner Cheryle Rebholz. "In addition, members will enjoy our boutique stocked with unique clothing, accessories for shooting and skin care products for outdoor enthusiasts."
According to the release, one of the founding reasons for Bear Arms is to help concealed carry license carriers maintain proficiency with their firearms. The range also promotes social and recreational entertainment for gun enthusiasts.
Employees of Bear Arms have earned the National Rife Association (NRA) safety officer certification. All those using the range are required to provide a valid I.D. before shooting.
There were some opposed to the building of this range when it was up for approval in June. At the time, the range was targeting an October 2016 opening.
