The Grafton School Board officially approved the calendar for the 2017-18 school year, and one of the main changes made was the start and end dates of the year to accommodate for students taking Advanced Placement (AP) courses.

Concerns were raised that students taking AP tests (which take place a month before the end of the year) would have less time to prepare if the school year ended at a later date.

Other changes were suggested to condense the length of the year but were ultimately discarded. These included eliminating no-school days on days scheduled for parent-teacher conferences and cutting Thanksgiving and winter breaks by one day each.

Final approval of the calendar may change depending on if the school referendum passes on April 4 to accommodate for various projects, most notably the demolition of Grafton Elementary School.

Winter break for the Grafton School District will be from Dec. 23 to Jan. 2, spring break will be from March 30 to April 8, and exams for Grafton High School will be held the week of June 8. The full calendar is available to view on the district website.
