Imagine … you were there when George Washington crossed the Delaware. Or when Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. Or when your great-great-grandparents struck out for life in a new world. Tell us a story about what it was like.

Now imagine winning $50 and seeing your story in print. It could happen if you are the winner of Now Media Group’s student writing contest.

The contest is open to third- through eighth-grade students in public, private and home schools within the area covered by the Mequon-Thiensville School District, Port Washington-Saukville School District, Cedarburg School District and Grafton School District. Stories should be no more than 400 words long. Entries will be divided into two age categories: grades three through five, and grades six through eight.

First place in each category will receive $50. The top three places will be published in Ozaukee Now this spring.

Send entries to Now Newspapers, 1741 Dolphin Drive, Suite A, Waukesha, WI 53186. Entries must include your name, age, address, phone number, grade and school. Email entries will not be accepted. Entries must be received by 5 p.m. Friday, March 24.
