The Grafton Plan Commission will review plans next week for a new hotel proposed off Interstate 43 near the Hampton Inn & Suites.
Plans for the TownePlace Suites, a member of the Mariott family of hotels, were first introduced at the Dec. 8 meeting of the Architectural Review Board. The plans call for a four-story, 87-room hotel just south of the Hampton Inn. According to the official request, it will be an extended-stay format hotel with full kitchens in each room, a pool and a fitness center.
Future plans call for a restaurant to be located between the proposed hotel and the Hampton Inn & Suites. What that restaurant will be has not been identified yet, according to Jessica Wolff, village director of planning and development.
“Demand for a new hotel in Grafton has been high, with the Hampton and the Days Inn on Washington Street reporting high occupancy rates,” said Wolff. “The new hotel should meet that demand while not creating any conflict with the other two hotels.”
Wolff presented the report at the review board meeting and the members of that board were mostly positive in their response. Most of the meeting was dedicated to hashing out various design details from the broad concepts related to the tone and qualities of the design to more specific details like stone components.
“I think people are going to be very happy with the look of the hotel,” said Wolff. “The plans call for high quality materials for both design and construction that should fit nicely into the surrounding area.”
The Architectural Review Board will meet again Jan. 12 to discuss any changes needed to be made based on the outcome of the plan Dec. 20 plan commission meeting.
