PBS, 8 ET/PT (times may vary)

Grant Gustin as Barry Allen in CW's 'The Flash.'

American Masters’ latest film covers the life of the late Dr. Maya Angelou, poet, activist and (perhaps most famously) author of I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings. Produced by Bob Hercules and Rita Coburn, the two-hour documentary includes rare footage of her early career as a singer, along with interviews with Bill and Hillary Clinton, Oprah Winfrey, Common, Alfre Woodard, Cicely Tyson, Quincy Jones, Louis Gossett, Jr., John Singleton, Diahann Carroll, Valerie Simpson and, in footage shot shortly before her death, Angelou.

The Flash
CW, 8 ET/PT

The Flash goes ape-crazy this week, as Barry, Caitlin, Cisco and Julian travel to Earth-2 to rescue Harry, only to be captured by Grodd. And the big ape has a job for them: To stop the leader of Gorilla City, Solovar, from invading Earth-1 — which has its own problems, including a metahuman who can control gravity. Really, Barry: This is precisely the kind of thing that happens when you ignore everyone’s advice and go traipsing through alternate universes.

Fresh Off the Boat
ABC, 9 ET/PT

Two familiar TV names grace this episode: Heather Locklear starring in front of the camera and Fred Savage directing behind it. Locklear plays Marvin’s ex-wife Sarah, whom Jessica befriends, much to the dismay of Marvin’s current wife, Honey.
