Anderson Cooper says he's 'still friends' with Kathy Griffin, hopes she 'bounces back'

Kathy Griffin, who has hosted CNN's live New Year's Eve show with Anderson Cooper since 2007, was fired from the show after posing with a fake severed Donald Trump head.

We found out in June that Anderson Cooper wanted "nothing but good things" for his ex-New Year's Eve co-host Kathy Griffin — but now he reveals they are "still friends."

The CNN anchor talked about his friendship with Griffin on Tuesday's episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.

"Look, I said what I said," Cooper explained. "I didn't think what she said was appropriate, but I wish her the best, and I hope she bounces back."

The anchor added that he thinks Griffin is "incredibly funny and a lot of people love her."

CNN fired Griffin from hosting the channel's New Year's Eve show after she posted a photo holding a mock "decapitated" head of President Trump.
