NBA Slam Dunk Contest: Best images from past contests

1986: Despite his diminutive stature, Spud Webb would go on to win the 1986 Slam Dunk Contest in dazzling fashion.

1988: Michael Jordan attempts his "Rock the Cradle" dunk during the 1988 competition in Chicago. He would take home the trophy that year.

1991: Dee Brown goes up for a no-look slam dunk during the Slam Dunk Contest in Charlotte. Brown would win the contest that year.

1994: Isaiah "JR" Rider of the skies for a slam dunk during the 1994 Slam Dunk Contest. He is most remembered for his "East Bay Funk" dunk in the contest, which he would win.

1996: Kobe Bryant attempts a one-handed dunk during the 1996 Slam Dunk Contest. He would go on to win it that year.

2000: Toronto's Vince Carter passes the ball between his legs as he hangs in the air during the NBA Slam Dunk Contest. Carter won the competition.

2000: Steve Francis goes up for a reverse dunk. Despite his display of athleticism, Vince Carter would come away the winner of the competition.

2000: Tracy McGrady throws down a dunk during the 2000 Slam Dunk Contest. Despite that, he would fall to his cousin, Vince Carter, in the competition.

2000: Vince Carter sticks his arm in the rim after dunking. This dunk would be referred to as the "Honey Dip." Carter won the competition.

2002: Jason Richardson goes for a reverse dunk during the Slam Dunk Contest in Philadelphia. Richardson won the contest.

2004: Fred Jones of the Indiana Pacers won the Slam Dunk Contest beating two time champion Jason Richardson of the Golden State Warriors in a miss-filled dunk contest in Los Angeles.

2005: Josh Smith dons an old-time Atlanta Hawks jersey in honor of Dominique Wilkins during the NBA Rising Stars Slam Dunk contest in Denver. He would go on to win the contest.

2005: Amare Stoudemire goes between the legs during the Slam Dunk Contest held in Denver. Josh Smith would come out the victor that year.

2005: Josh Smith jumps over Kenyon Martin during the Slam Dunk Contest.

2007: Gerald Green jumps over Nate Robinson of the New York Knicks, during the slam dunk contest during NBA All-Star weekend in Las Vegas. He would finish the contest as the winner.

2007: Gerald Green leaps over a table on his dunk in the finals of the NBA Slam Dunk Contest. Green won the competition, beating out eventual three-time winner, Nate Robinson.

2008: Dwight Howard attempts a dunk from the free throw line with Superman outfit on. Howard's showmanship would lead to a victory in the contest.

2009: Dwight Howard emerges from a phone booth with a Superman cape on. Despite his theatrics, he would lose to Nate Robinson.

2009: Nate Robinson leaps over Dwight Howard en route to his second Slam Dunk Contest victory.

2011: Blake Griffin emulates Vince Carter's "Honey Dip" dunk 11 years prior by sticking his arm into the basket. Griffin would win the contest that year.

2011: Oklahoma City's Serge Ibaka grabs a toy off the rim with his teeth during the Sprite Slam Dunk contest, part of the 2011 NBA All Star weekend in Los Angeles. However, Blake Griffin would win the competition.

2011: Blake Griffin from dunks over a car with Baron Davis inside before winning the All-Star Slam Dunk Contest.

2013: Terrence Ross attempts a behind-the-back dunk during the 2013 contest. Ross would win the contest.

2015: Zach LaVine brings the ball behind his back, toward his knees, for a dunk during the 2015 Slam Dunk Contest in Brooklyn. LaVine would take home the title that year.
